Quit Smoking - How To Prepare For Your Quitting Day |
Quitting Day - "No Smoking" 2 hours prior to your appointment
- "No Caffeine" 2 hours prior to your appointment
- Throw away all cigarettes, ashtrays, lighters, etc. (Before your appointment)
- Keep very busy, and surround yourself with non-smokers
- Clean your clothes to get rid of the odor
- Decide how you are going to reward yourself when you stay tobacco free for 24 hours, one week, one month, one year.
- Put the money you would have spent on cigarettes each day into a jar and see how much you can save in one month. Makes for a nice vacation at the end of one year.
Before You Quit Smoking- Select a date to stop smoking and stick to it
- Tell everyone the date you are going to quit smoking
- Write a list of all the reasons why you want to quit and keep it wth you
- Put off having your first cigarette of the day - add more time each day
- Don't carry cigarettes with you, make them inconvenient
- Deep clean your house and car to remove the odor
- Eat more fruits and vegetables
- Exercise
- Sit in non-smoking areas
- Practice stress management or deep breathing
- Create a "survival kit" that includes gum, hard candy, cinnamon sticks, toothpicks, straws, pretzels, fruit, vegetable sticks, sunflower seeds, stress ball
